The 6,000 square foot house, with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, is located in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood, and it was built in 1924 by Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is highly unique both inside and out, with the exterior being featured in House on Haunted Hill and the interior playing the role of Deckard’s apartment in Blade Runner. Now, nearly sixty years after her novel came out, Jackson’s work lives on in the nightmares of Netflix and chillers. Buried deep within the script are the bone-chilling real-life inspirations — you just need to dig a bit deeper to find them, if you dare.

Some stories claim the living is not the only people who visit the Wax Museum. Numerous people have claimed to see a woman praying in front of The Last Supper exhibit. People visiting this home may or may not experience activity, but there is still an overall air of evil at home. Although many people may recall his contributions to that industry, other people recall the fact he was murdered in the former home in which he stayed.

Located in what is now Calabasas, the Leonis Adobe was built in the 1870s by the wealthy rancher, Miguel Leonis. One of the oldest surviving buildings in the San Fernando Valley, Leonis Adobe is also considered to be extremely haunted. Investigators found countless ghosts, many of who are believed to be former staff members of the hospital from its early years, as well as patients that passed in the hospital, roaming the halls. Some of the findings claim that some of the spirits that remain tied to the former hospital are not the nicest spirits.

Through grimy windows, one can see a 1950s-style television set, a Christmas tree, and supposedly, neatly-wrapped gifts. The furniture is covered in a thick layer of dust and the living room remains the exact same as it was that one December night. A film documenting the house, called The Ennis House, was shot in hi definition digital 3D by film maker Tom Koester. An early cut of the film premiered at the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Conference in Chicago, October 2007, but has had few public showings. It was during the long ownership by the Foundation from 1980 to 2011 that the house was used as a filming location, establishing it as one of the most famous houses in Los Angeles.

He was storing Christmas decorations at the house and had even done some present-wrapping there, he said. Urban legend alleged that the home was vacant and untouched since the murders for over 50 years. Neighbors and urban explorers said no one lived there and that it was filled with old artifacts, like children’s light switch plates, from the Perelson family.

Each year, they take on a new, multisensory theme– all equally terrifying. Since it’s rare to find a haunted house in Los Angeles where they can touch you, this is a unique experience where you’ll be fully and physically immersed. The last and largest of Frank Lloyd Wright’s four “textile block” houses was designed by the father and built by the famed architect's son Lloyd. However, due to unexpected repairs, they have to stay longer, and they begin to experience increasing paranormal phenomena, resulting in a tragic loss and the family fleeing from the house. Twenty-six years later, the Crain siblings and their estranged father reunite after another tragedy strikes them, and they are forced to confront how their time in Hill House has affected each of them. The story is said to have been inspired by that of Sarah Winchester and the infamous Winchester Mystery House.

Over 20 years ago, a team of paranormal investigators spent the night in the house, hoping to capture evidence of ghostly activity. While the results of their investigation remain inconclusive, the stories and legends surrounding Maple Hill Mansion continue to grow. Prairie City, Iowa – Have you ever wondered what secrets lie within the walls of an old, historic home? Maple Hill Mansion, also known as the Haunted Mansion of Jasper County, has been the subject of local legends and ghostly tales for over 150 years. Built in 1865 by Joseph Grayson Long, this wood-frame house is the oldest of its kind in this Iowa county and has quite the reputation for being occupied by evil spirits. She told the crowd she wanted the focus to be on the women who'd been killed this year, and the Indigenous and queer people disproportionately affected by violence.

Locations from Horror Films of the 1970s and 80s

To watch Wyetzner break down the history and architecture of other iconic horror homes, check out the newest episode of Blueprints. Located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, Wright designed the home in the early ’20s for Charles and Mabel Ennis, owners of a local men’s clothing store. The home is one of four that makes use of Wright’s textile block system, which is constructed from precast, interlocked concrete blocks. Designed in a trabeated style, the home lacks curves, arches, vaults, and domes and is heavily inspired by Mayan architecture.

Apparently, Leonis himself haunts the building, with his ghost causing all kinds of phenomena including disembodied footsteps and strange sounds. During his life, Leonis was touted for his great strength and undoubtedly strong hands. Perhaps the most famous of all DTLA hauntings, the Cecil Hotel has seen more than its fair share of murders, suicides, serial killers, and disappearances since 1927. The 600-room building has been home to many different people in its almost 90-year history. Castle eschews standard Gothic, and uses Frank Lloyd Wright’s superb Ennis House, 2607 Glendower Avenue, a Mayan-temple influenced structure built of pre-cast concrete blocks. After the release of the movie, it was nightly besieged by bozos, hurling bottles.

The Ennis House was designed for Charles and Mable Ennis in 1923 and was completed in 1924. The house is the fourth in a series of homes that have become known as the textile block designs done in Mayan Revival style. Charles Ennis passed away in 1928, only a few years after the house was completed, and Mabel Ennis sold the property in 1936. The house passed through several owners, including radio personality John Nesbitt, who hired Wright to renovate the property in 1940. Lloyd Wright converted a basement storage area into a billiard room and designed a swimming pool for the north terrace.

On May 4, there will be what might just be the world’s first Star Wars-themed haunted house in Manayunk. Enriquez told journalists that his parents, Julian and Emily Enriquez, inhabited the house for 30 years after the murder and that he now uses it for storage. Over the years, several owners have reported strange occurrences within the house.
